The Final One

I should be sad. all the women around me were crying. this was my final kindergarten graduation and i didn't cry. i don't know why. i am VERY nostalgic, but i think that with age comes an understanding that there are far more important and exciting things that await this child than his kindergarten graduation. i guess i know that he has so many wonderful things ahead of him and challenges that i can put this little event into the proper perspective. yes, it was darling. they even played the graduation march and made it very official with the changing of the tassle at the end. but, i was actually excited for him. excited for him to move on and try new things and read chapter books and have his first actual recess and play handball with older kids and fall and scrape his knee on a real blacktop and take the bus home for the first time. see what all those years of parenting have done for me. given me incredible perspective and peace. NOW, i'm crying.
